Founder's Message

‘Excellence is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere efforts, intelligent direction and skillful execution.'
These words of wisdom best describe the present state of our College. Our College is an institution oriented towards the cause of need based education, aiming at optimum growth. Ever since its inception, the College has the distinction of excelling in academic and extra-curricular activities.

Ours was truly a unique program that did not happen overnight. The vision of Unity College was the result of several journeys, including my own which led us down this path. As an educator I had an earnest desire to build up an institution where good quality education blended in all colours of human values could be imparted to all, irrespective of class, creed and religion. I feel proud to say that my lofty dream of a quality institution has taken shape through it. I also hold a deep passion for providing these children the opportunity to access the highest standards of holistic education.

Our vision to educate has been tested over the last 30 years and has proved to be effective and successful time and again, accepted and appreciated by the community. The College which had a humble beginning in 1987 today has got about 2,000 students and around 80 staff members on roll.

All these years, as I look back on Unity's journey, I am overwhelmed by the generosity of our community, dedication of our staff and the support and gratitude of the parents. Most of all, I am overwhelmed by the perseverance of our students, by their tenacity; their strength and the genuine goodness of their hearts.

Our mission to spread education to all has spread among the masses and our war against illiteracy and ignorance is still going on. For realizing the vision, we stand committed towards providing outstanding guidance, leadership, faculty and physical infrastructure to make a difference to our society.

I would like to thank all for believing and trusting our dreams. I give all my blessings to the staff, students, parents and all those associated with this institution. I pray to God, in His divine benevolence, continues to lead and guide this prestigious institution for generations to come.

Padma Bhushan Late Dr. S. Kalbe Sadiq

The last two years have been full of hardship for many people. Those in educational institutions not only had to suffer because of the effects of COVID-19 but also because studies were disrupted and people had to make a transition to online teaching and learning. The faculty and staff were remarkable in the efficient transition from offline to online. Now that we are fully back to offline studies, it is clear that faculty, students, staff and parents all came together and made Unity a leading example of how to face external challenges and rise to the occasion. I would like to thank everyone for their effort and cooperation. I am sure this period would have gone even more smoothly if the late Maulana Dr Syed Kalbe Sadiq Sahib had been there to lead us through the vicissitudes that we all faced. His spirit of course continues to guide us as we endeavour to help Unity to grow and expand. His commitment to creating an institution, which is built on universal principles and not because of any interest, has given us all the confidence to never be intimidated by any kind of adversity.

My prayers are also with all the students who persevered through great physical, mental and emotional stress and adapted to online studies. Their resilience, and the unwavering support of their parents, has shown what sacrifices are made for the purpose of seeking knowledge. The ISC and ICSE results with 100% of our students passing in 2022 is a testament to the way in which Maulana Dr Syed Kalbe Sadiq Sahib, May Allah elevate his position, continues to inspire all of us.
I will leave you with the following saying ofImam Ali Ibn Abi Talib (a.s):

Adorn yourself with a good nature and God will ease your account. Bihar al-Anwar, vol. 68, pg. 383
The most important thing alongside education is to also develop strong ethical values and a good character. Without these education can not only become dangerous but also a liability. I am proud to say that our students have exhibited the best character as well as excelling in their studies.

Unity is the labour of love and the vision of its founder, Late Dr. S Kalbe Sadiq sahib. His vision was to provide affordable high-quality education fused with high moral values to our children.

Team Unity is working towards taking his vision forward towards realization by working to create a generation of future leaders in their chosen careers by providing our students holistic education "Taleem" encompassing: academics, co-curricular activities, sports education and life-skills learning.
To further strengthen this mission, I personally request all parents to focus equally along with Team Unity on "Tarbiyat" by participating proactively to inculcate high moral, ethical, human and spiritual values in their children so that they may develop character and confidence with a deep-rooted passion to evolve into a good human being and socially productive citizen.
I have a strong conviction that the investment we put jointly into our children and sacrifices we make today by providing "Taleem with Tarbiyat" will help them to achieve greater heights and create a brighter future.
I take this opportunity to congratulate the school Editorial Team for their efforts in compiling this year's College Magazine. This magazine is a glance over the multifarious all-round developmental activities taken up by our students under the able guidance of our teachers throughout the year 2021-22. Efforts are being made with baby steps to encourage creative writing, critical thinking, innovation, a positive approach and teamwork amongst the learners at various levels.
I end this note with a hope and prayer to the Almighty to endow our students with mental alertness, physical strength and moral uprightness to emerge from the portals of this College as individuals of character, as responsible citizens and the torch bearers of tomorrow.
Best wishes and regards

It is heartening to see students back in the College after almost two years of disruption of studies due to Covid. It was not only loss of studies but also loss of life. Many of us lost their relatives, friends and people known to us. The loss is unbearable and unrepairable. We pray to God for the departed souls.
Let's try to utilize this time to make up for the loss of studies during the Covid period. I am confident that our students will make extra efforts to make up for the loss.
My best wishes to all the students, particularly to students of class XII who are leaving us. Please do remember Unity where ever you are. The Alumni Association of Unity shall be the best forum for you to remain in touch with the College.
All the best.
Dr. M. Talha

The gone by session 2020-21, paralysed by the Pandemic, we anyhow navigated all through via online pedagogies. The combination of uncertainty and the accelerated digital adoption witnessed incredible adaptability and resilience of the entire academic sector, teachers, students and parents. The overnight shift of academics to online led many to wonder about the role of a teacher who diligently accepted the new challenges without any prior preparation or training and innovated novel teaching strategies to provide uninterrupted education to millions of homes. Like a Saviour, they served ‘Manna’ to the forlorn, traumatized children in social isolation. They cared about what their pupils were going through and helped them maintain some sense of normalcy while the rest the world was falling apart. Their self-created multimedia contents, constructive activities, online contests, webinars and e-publications converted the virtual world into an engaging and lively experience for them. Nevertheless, the students, who are at the helm of the Corona induced disruptions, readily adapted to the new norm and continued learning and practicing despite all odds.

Further, the Administration and Teachers worked with parents and held counselling sessions to train them on how to supplement their child’s learning at home. There had been, however, challenges to overcome. Some students without reliable internet access and technology struggled to participate in digital learning. The pandemic has significantly disrupted the board classes as well, which is a critical determinant of their higher studies and career plans.

We may not know what the future holds, but it’s important to be optimistic, especially when it concerns our future citizens. I highly appreciate my teachers, students and parents for accelerating an extraordinary time for learning.

The year has been mournfully wrought by the sad demise of our College Founding President (Padma Bhushan) Dr. S. Kalbe Sadiq who had been the visionary leader and the very soul of the College. I take this opportunity to offer my richest tribute to the Second Sir Syed and Hakeem-e-Ummat to try and live up to his legacy; achieve his vision and mission of excellence in academics.

May the College flourish and advance to touch the pinnacles of his pursued dream!
