Unity College set virtual visits to three Japanese Prime Universities via ZOOM webinars.
The first Webinar “14th SSP Online Visit- Osaka University” was organised by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) under the Sakura Science Program (SSP) on 18th June, 2022. The students were made acquainted with the Osaka University, located in Osaka, which is one of Japan’s former Imperial Universities and a Designated National University.
The students virtually visited the University and its three campuses through PPTs. Besides, various undergraduate and graduate courses, research programmes, admission process, fee structure, financial aid, dormitories, Student Centres, Support Office and liveable city were the main highlights of the slides.
Next, Mock Lectures on topics “Digitising Reality” and “Fruit Flies tell the Secret of Germ-line Cells” were delivered by the University Professors. Moreover, two of its international students also shared their campus experiences. In conclusion, the students’ queries were addressed in detail.
On 16thJuly, 2022, the second webinar was organised by HokkaidoUniversity, Sapporo, one of the oldest, largest and most prestigious Universities of Japan. The Panellists facilitated comprehensive information regarding various undergraduate courses namely ISP (High English ability), MJSP, Self-supported international student examination (EJU and High Japanese ability) and other courses offered by the University. They also apprised the students of the living cost in Sapporo city, dormitories on and around campus, tuition fee and fee waiver programmes to support the foreign learners.
The third session held on 29th May, 2022 was to introduce the students to Tohoku University, Sendai- a top type National University of Japan for the third consecutive year, despite confronting the challenges of COVID 19. In addition, the aspirants were treated with a virtual visit to the University, the facilities available - hostels, hybrid mode of studying and protection from COVID 19. At last, they were told why the University only entertains commercial courses and no medical or engineering courses.
The webinars laid open myriad opportunities abroad for the interested students. They were able to analyse the comparative information to go for the best option.
