The Department of Optometry under the umbrella of Era University organized an Eye Check-Up Camp in collaboration with Diya Foundation at Unity College from 19th to 25th July, 2022. As per the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. (Prof.) FarzanaBano, this camp was organized for school students’ vision screening to look for vision problems and also check for signs of serious eye diseases. People usually neglect the eye problems in their children.
The purpose of the eye camp was early detection and treatment of vision problems in children and to make them aware about far-sightedness, near-sightedness and computer vision syndrome. The Refraction Test was performed for all children.Students were then identified with refractive errors and spectacles were prescribed. The children who required further evaluation were referred to the base hospital. The project will be executed in 4 phases. Phase 1 (Basic Vision Screening) and 2 (Refraction) are over.
The eye screening was carried by the final year optometry students. The supervision of the screening was done under the Head of Department Sunil Kumar Gupta, Asst. Professor Ms. RagniKumari, Asst. Professor Mr. Jamshed Ali, Optometrist Mr. Prateek Sharma and Optometrist Ms. Ramlah Akhtar.
The week-long programme was a great success as all the students of College from class LN to XII were examined and provided with the feedback too. This formative drive was on the line “A stitch in time saves nine.”
