World Health Day was celebrated in the Pre-Primary Section of Unity College on April 8, 2025, with the objective of instilling healthy habits and awareness of personal well-being among young learners. The celebration began with an interactive session on healthy eating, where children learned about the importance of consuming fruits and vegetables through colourful visuals and a fun 'What’s Healthy?' guessing game. This was followed by a joyful session on exercise, yoga, and meditation. Children practised simple yoga poses like Tree Pose, Cat-Cow Stretch, Downward Dog, and Butterfly Pose under the guidance of an instructor, promoting the importance of physical activity and mindfulness.
In the Lower Nursery class, children actively participated in a cleanliness activity where they helped clear trash from a small, dirty water area and placed it in the correct bin. This hands-on experience helped them understand the importance of hygiene and caring for the environment. Upper Nursery students brought fresh fruits in their tiffins and engaged in a Sorting Activity, using pegs to classify foods as healthy or unhealthy, which enhanced their understanding of good eating habits through a fun and practical approach. Prep students created Earth-themed drawings in their scrapbooks and conveyed simple but impactful messages like drinking water, eating fruits, and exercising regularly. They, too, brought fresh fruits in their tiffins to reinforce the theme of the day.
The celebration was both educational and enjoyable, providing children with meaningful experiences that encouraged healthy practices in an age-appropriate and joyful way. Through various thoughtfully planned activities, the event successfully conveyed the importance of nutrition, exercise, hygiene, and environmental care, laying a strong foundation for lifelong well-being.
