On January 31, 2025, the Pre-Primary Section of Unity College celebrated First Aid Day with enthusiasm and creativity. Designed to introduce young learners to basic first aid in an engaging and age-appropriate manner, the event aimed to familiarise them with essential safety practices through interactive, hands-on activities.
The youngest learners in Lower Nursery had a delightful time creating paper stethoscopes on collar-shaped cutouts in their scrapbooks. Utilising chenille stems and sheets, they crafted their stethoscopes, making the learning process both interactive and enjoyable. This imaginative activity sparked their curiosity and introduced them to the tools used in medical care in a playful and engaging manner.
The Upper Nursery students showcased their creativity by crafting First Aid Boxes using black chart paper and white sheets. They meticulously added the iconic Red Cross symbol to complete their designs, making their boxes appear authentic and professional. This activity was met with immense enthusiasm as the children relished the hands-on experience of constructing something practical and meaningful.
The Prep children embarked on an exciting and educational journey to create their very own First Aid Pouches. They explored essential tools commonly found in a first aid kit, such as bandages, antiseptic wipes, and scissors. To reinforce their understanding, the students drew and coloured these first aid items in their scrapbooks. This artistic endeavour not only enhanced their fine motor skills but also helped them retain valuable knowledge in a memorable and enjoyable way.
The First Aid Day activities left a lasting impression on the students, providing them with foundational knowledge that will serve them well in everyday situations. The day was filled with learning, creativity, and joy, perfectly reflecting the Pre-Primary Section’s mission to make education both meaningful and enjoyable.
