On October 30, 2024, the Pre-Primary Section of Unity College celebrated Diwali, the Festival of Lights, with immense enthusiasm. This joyous occasion, symbolising the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil, filled the school with festive cheer.
The youngest learners in Lower Nursery embraced the spirit of Diwali by creating colourful diyas. Each diya, adorned with a glitter sheet flame, was a testament to their creativity and imagination. Upper Nursery students participated in a unique Handprint Impression activity, transforming their handprints into beautiful diya-like designs, complete with sparkling glitter flames. This hands-on experience allowed them to connect with the festival in a fun and interactive way. Prep class students, along with their teachers, collaborated to create vibrant rangoli patterns outside their classrooms and decorated colourful diyas, adding a touch of festive magic to the school environment.
A beautiful rangoli display was also featured in the Pre-Primary Section. The celebration was honoured by Headmistress Ms Kainaat Mansooralong withPrincipal Mr Deepak Mervyn Mathews and Vice Principal Mr Sachindra Bharti, who lit the diya, symbolising the light of knowledge and hope.
The Diwali celebration was an inclusive event that brought together students, teachers, and parents in their finest ethnic attire. It promoted cultural awareness, strengthened bonds within the school community, and encouraged teamwork and creativity among young learners. This joyous occasion instilled an appreciation for different cultures and served as a powerful reminder of unity and the festival’s timeless message of light and hope.
