Aseema’s Montessori Educational Training Session was held at Unity College, Lucknow, from October 14 to October 18, 2024. The training was designed for teachers from the Pre-Primary Section in the morning shift and the Montessori Section in the evening shift. Additionally, teachers from Allahabad, Sambhal and Barabanki under the UEP programme participated. The session was led by trainers from Aseema Charitable Trust, Mumbai: Ms JienneMarrie and MsPragati Joshi, and focused on enhancing Montessori teaching methods. The training sessions were also attended by Principal II Shift Ms Shabana Ahmad and Academic Advisor UEP Ms Tehseen Zaidi.
This comprehensive training refined Montessori techniques specifically for Pre-Primary education. The session began with observation strategies, helping teachers better understand children’s behaviour. Participants learnt about sensory development through the use of thermic tablets and bottles for tactile learning and sound variation exercises to enhance auditory skills. The programme also introduced early reading and writing through tools like Object Box 2 to build vocabulary.
Mathematical concepts were simplified with interactive activities such as the Stamp Game and Snake Game, which taught addition, subtraction, and multiplication in an engaging way. Cultural lessons were included to broaden children’s worldviews, while practical life skills like sweeping, mopping, and teamwork were demonstrated to cultivate independence and responsibility in children.
The training also focused on vocabulary development and fostering cultural awareness. Participants were provided with strategies to create more interactive and engaging classrooms. The trainers emphasised maintaining a positive, energetic approach to teaching and inspiring confidence and enthusiasm in both teachers and students.
This training not only provided practical tools but also revitalised the passion for teaching. By blending Montessori philosophy with real-life applications, it empowered educators to transform their classrooms into dynamic environments where curiosity, independence, and a love for learning can flourish. The skills and insights gained will help shape a more vibrant and engaging future for their students.
