UNITY COLLEGE HONOURS OUTSTANDING ACHIEVERS

On 15th October 2024, Unity College held its much-anticipated Prize Distribution Ceremony for the Secondary and Senior Secondary Sections, recognising the academic achievements of students for the 2023-2024 academic year. This annual event not only celebrated the outstanding accomplishments of these bright learners but also emphasised the values of discipline, compassion, and a passion for knowledge that they embody.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr Geeta Gandhi Kingdon - Manager, Group of City Montessori Schools, Lucknow. The event was also graced by her husband Dr Roger Kingdon - President of the Group of City Montessori Schools, Lucknow, Secretary Mr Najmul Hasan Rizvi, Jt Secretary Dr M Talha, Principal Mr Deepak Mervyn Mathews, Vice Principal Mr Sachindra Bharti, and Headmistress Ms Kainaat Mansoor.

Dr Geeta Gandhi Kingdon commended the College for honouring both achievement and high ethical standards. She urged students to go beyond mere knowledge, advocating for the development of skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities essential in today’s technological age. Dr Kingdon emphasised the importance of critical thinking, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, asserting that today's achievers will be tomorrow's leaders, tasked with setting noble goals and utilising their unique talents to enhance society.

The ceremony commenced with sacred verses from the Quran, Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, and the Bible, followed by a warm welcome from Principal Mr Deepak Mervyn Mathews. Outstanding students from classes VI to IX and XI were honoured in various categories, including Top Position Holders, Best Student, Best Sportsperson, 100% Attendance holders, and Best Handwriting in English and Hindi. A special prize was awarded to Kashan Raza Rizvi from class IX-A for creating a chatbot named Kavin AI, powered by Gemini API and currently operational on Firebase services with voice assistant capabilities.

A melodious highlight was the choir group, which delivered a soulful rendition of the College Tarana, "Unity College Se WaabastaHamaariShaan Hai," embodying the spirit of the event.

Jt Secretary Dr M Talha extended his blessings to the awardees, while Secretary Mr Najmul Hasan Rizvi expressed gratitude to the guests and echoed Dr Kingdon's call for a shift from rote memorisation to a practical approach to learning, emphasising the importance of humanity in education.
