DAAN UTSAV: A CELEBRATION OF GIVING

With hearts full of generosity, the Pre-Primary and Primary Sections of our College came together for DAAN UTSAV 2024, a week dedicated to fostering a spirit of giving from October 2 to October 8. This inspiring initiative, themed ‘Our Small Donation Can Make a Big Impact—Let’s Help Those in Need Together,’ aimed to instill a sense of responsibility and compassion among students and staff alike, fostering a culture of support for those in need.

Throughout the week, students actively participated by donating a variety of essential items. Lower Nursery contributed different types of pulses, while Upper Nursery students provided rice and salt. The Prep students generously donated tea and sugar. Additionally, Primary children contributed items including basic spices, salt, sugar, flour, daal, tea, and oil. Teachers of both the sections also contributed by donating cooking oil, wheat flour and basic spices. These generous contributions exemplify the spirit of giving that defines DAAN UTSAV.

On the final day of the initiative, teachers Ms Saima Ishtiaque, Ms ShahwarTaqvi, and Ms IlaShahid, along with four enthusiastic class 5 students, visited a slum in Gomti Nagar in collaboration with the Robinhood Army, led by Mr Shaleen. Upon arrival, the team found that Mr Shaleen had carefully organised the distribution, with individuals from each household waiting in line to receive assistance. The team distributed essential items, including turmeric, chilli powder, tea leaves, lentils, rice, salt, sugar, and oil, which were carefully packaged for each family. Mr Shaleen provided invaluable support, including personnel to help load and unload the goods.

The class 5 students displayed remarkable enthusiasm and dedication throughout the distribution process, effectively managing the challenges posed by the heat and the crowd. Their eagerness to assist in unpacking and organising the packets significantly contributed to the success of the initiative. This event not only enriched the lives of those in need but also instilled a sense of compassion and community spirit among the participants, making DAAN UTSAV 2024 a truly memorable experience for all.
