On August 24, 2024, the Primary Section of the College hosted the highly anticipated Inter-House Science Quiz Competition, ‘Sciencia.’ The event was graced by the presence of the College Jt Secretary, Dr M Talha, Principal Mr Deepak M Mathews, Vice Principal Mr Sachindra Bharti and Headmistress Ms Kainaat Mansoor, making it a prestigious occasion for the participants and the audience.
The quiz commenced with an inspiring address by the Principal Mr Deepak M Mathews, who urged the participants to strive for excellence. The event was further enriched by holy renditions from the Quran, the Bhagwad Gita, and the Bible, creating a solemn and respectful atmosphere.
The competition between the four Houses was intense and featured six distinct and challenging rounds. In the first round, students answered multiple-choice questions. The second round tested their visual recognition skills as they identified scientific images. In the third round, ‘Puzzle Buzzle,’ participants arranged flashcards of organs to form a complete organ system. In the fourth round, each team dissected a hibiscus flower and labelled its parts. The fifth round, ‘Nose Knows,’ added a unique element as students identified spices by their smell, much to the delight of the audience. The quiz concluded with a fast-paced rapid-fire round, where teams demonstrated their quick thinking and knowledge.
The winners were as follows:
- 1st Place: Sir Syed House
- 2nd Place: Iqbal House
- 3rd Place: Gandhi House
The guests were thoroughly impressed by the enthusiasm and knowledge displayed by the students. College Jt Secretary, Dr M Talha praised the participants' spirit, while Vice Principal Mr Sachindra Bharti commended the creativity of the ‘Nose Knows’ round. He encouraged the introduction of more innovative quizzes and suggested that teachers incorporate such engaging activities into their classrooms.
The quiz concluded on a high note, with the Headmistress, Ms Kainaat Mansoor, delivering a heartfelt vote of thanks. She expressed her gratitude to the guests, teachers, participants, and all staff members who contributed to the success of the event. ‘Sciencia’ was a resounding triumph, showcasing the talent and competitive spirit of the students.
