The Pre-Primary and Primary Sections of the College celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm on August 16, 2024. A kaleidoscope of activities, tailored to different age groups, ignited young minds with patriotic fervour and fostered a deep appreciation for India's heritage.
The Lower Nursery transformed into a canvas of national pride as tiny hands, dipped in orange and green, created vibrant impressions on a sketched national flag. This simple yet profound exercise introduced the youngest learners to the concept of freedom, leaving an indelible mark on their tender hearts.
Upper Nursery students embarked on a creative journey as they crafted tricolour kites using pulses and rice, symbolising the essence of the Indian flag. Dressed in pristine white and adorned with national flags and tricolour accessories, their enthusiasm was contagious. This activity not only honed their artistic skills but also instilled a profound understanding of the deeper meanings associated with the colours of the national flag.
The Prep section echoed with patriotic fervour as students celebrated Independence Day with a special morning assembly. They presented a melodious tribute to the nation through soulful renditions of 'Saare Jahan Se Acha' and the National Anthem. A visual representation of national identity emerged as students crafted the National Flag on white A4 sheets and displayed four national symbols: the Tiger, symbolising strength and grace as the National Animal; the Peacock, representing beauty and pride as the National Bird; the Mango, denoting the richness of the land as the National Fruit; and the Lotus, reflecting purity and enlightenment as the National Flower. Teachers explained the significance of these symbols, enriching the students’ understanding of their national heritage.
The Primary Section embraced the spirit of Independence Day through a variety of hands-on activities. From Tricolour Danglers and Ice-Cream Stick creations to Badges and Pen Holders, students from classes I to IV expressed their creativity while learning about the colours of the national flag. A Salad Dressing activity by class V students added a culinary twist as they incorporated the colours of the national flag into their creations.
The College's Independence Day celebrations were more than just an event; they were a transformative experience. By blending education with entertainment, the activities ignited young minds, fostering a deep-rooted sense of patriotism and national pride.
